Salado suffers only loss of season to Wimberley

Salado Lady Eagles suffered their first loss of the soccer season and settled for third place in the Eagle Classic tournament held at Eagle Stadium Jan. 14-16.

In the first round of the tournament Jan. 14, Salado crushed King 9-1.

Tyler Pierce led the girls with three goals. Reagan Morreale scored two goals in the match.

Also scoring for the Lady Eagles were Katey Ewton, Jessica Ringstaff, Annie Ewton and Taylor Schoenrock, one goal each.

Goalie Sam Isbell had a save in the match.

Salado lost to Wimberly in the second round of the tournament on penalty kicks. The teams were tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation. Tyler Pierce scored during regulation for the Lady Eagles with an assist from Morgan Bird.

In the shoot-out, Pierce, Annie Ewton and Reagan Morreale all scored penalty kicks.

Sam Isbell made a save at the goal for the Lady Eagles.

Salado beat Waco Robinson 2-0 in the final round for the third place trophy on Jan. 16.

Jessica Ringstaff scored two goals in the second half of the game.
