Salado Lady Eagles split their district games last week with a win over Llano and a road loss against the Burnet Lady Bulldogs Jan. 19.

Burnet Lady Bulldogs held Salado to just six points in the second and five points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 50-29 district win Jan. 19. Burnet outscored the visiting Lady Eagles 11-9 at the end of the first, but took a 25-15 halftime lead, scoring 14 points in the second period. Five Lady Bulldogs scored in the quarter. Salado scored nine points in the third, while Burnet tacked on another 12 points, eight of them from Pool, who led Burnet with 11 points in the game. The Lady Bulldogs tallied 13 points in the fourth quarter while holding Salado to just five points. Burnet had 35 shots at the free throw line, converting 15 of them. Salado was slightly better, shooting 12-of-25 at the free throw line. No Salado player got into double figures, although seven girls got on the scoreboard. Kerrigan Hearne scored eight points to lead Salado. Taylor Lowrance and Sarah Kelarek followed with six points each. Brianna Washington had five points. Gema Vitolas scored two points and Danielle McDaniel and Kierstan Osborn scored a point each.

Salado girls bounced back from the road loss to beat the visiting Llano Lady Yellowjackets 56-42 on Jan. 22. The girls were tied at 19-19 at the end of the first half, but Salado took advantage of the long ball to take a 41-30 lead in the third. Sarah Kelarek, Kierstan Osborn, Gem Vitolas and Kerrigan Hearne all shot from beyond the arch in the period as the Lady Eagles began to pull away. Salado added 15 more in the fourth quarter and held the Lady Jackets to 12 points for the 56-42 win. Kelarek led Salado with 18 points. She shot seven-of-11 at the free throw line. Brianna Washington followed with 10 points. Osborn and Gema Vitolas both had eight points, Kerrigan Hearne had six points, Taylor Lowrance scored four points and Payton Dreitz added two in the game.
