Salado Lady Eagles start district play this week, following an historic run for the softball program last year that was ended in the regional finals by the Crawford Lady Pirates, who won the 2A state championship for the second time in three years.

Salado handed the Lady Pirates their only loss in the season.

The Eagles bring  a 9-3 record into district after playing four games in the Gatesville Tournament.

Salado got a little revenge for Crawford shortening their state run last year, beating the depleted-by-graduation Lady Pirates 9-2 in the tournament.

Salado scored three runs in the first, including a two-run single to right field by Bailey Tindell.

Lindy martin scored in thes econd on a sacrifice fly to left field by Meagan Hill.

With two outs in the fourth, the Lady Eagles added three more runs by Martin, James and Hill.

Meagan Hill’s solo homer in the first inning an was the only bright note in a game in which the Lady Eagles struck out 11 times in five innings during the 2-1 loss to #3-ranked Krum.

Krum scored an unearned run in the fourth inning and won the game with two outs in the fifth

Meagan Hill and Malory Schattle hit back-to-back homers in the fifth inning of the Lady Eagles’ 9-4 win over Gatesville Lady Hornets.

Jenna Calder scored an unearned run in the second inning, reaching on an error and scoring on a wild pitch.

Bailey Tindell doubled to lead off the fourth and Calder was hit by a pitch before  Bay hit a sacrifice grounder to the third baseman.  With two outs, Lindy Martin singled and James was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Hill hit a three-run double and Schattle walked. Hill scored on a single by Kristen Oakes. Bailey Tindell knocked in Schattle and Oakes scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Gatesville scored a run in the third inning and three runs in the fifth inning.

Salado lost to Lorena 7-3 although the girls knotted the game at 2-2 in the fourth.

Lorena blew the game open with five runs in the sixth, while the Lady Eagles were only able to score one run in the sixth.
