Salado beat Pflugerville, Thrall, Midway JV, Gatesville fall to Caldwell, Academy
Salado Lady Eagles took fourth place in the Academy softball tournament, winning four games and losing two last week. Rebecca Dockray, Malory Schattle and Bailey Tindell were named to the All-Tournament team.
Salado Lady Eagles have a record of 5-2 as of March 1.

Salado Lady Eagles outhit Pflugerville Lady Panthers in a 6-2 21in on Feb. 25. Salado had nine hits while Pflugerville had six hits.
The Lady Eagles scored two runs in the first after Malory Schattle walked and Jenna Calder hit a triple. Calder scored on a single by Madeline Murray.
Salado added three runs in the second. Lindy Martin led off with a walk stole second and went to third on a double by Malory Schattle. Calder singled to left to score both runners. She went to third on a souble by Rebecca Dockray, scoring on a single by Murray.
Martin scored again in the third inning, leading off with a walk, She went to third on a double by Stephanie Mancilla and scored on a double by Schattle.
Bailey Tindell pitched the entire game, striking out one batter and walking two. She threw 26 pitches and gave up two earned runs.

Senior pitcher Meagan Hill struck out eight batters and allowed just two hits as the Salado Lady Eagles beat Thrall 3-0 on Feb. 25.
Salado scored two runs in the first. Malory Schattle led off the game with a double and scored on a double by Jenna Calder. Calder scored on a single by Meagan Hill, who hit two in the game.
Abbie James scored in the fourth after singling with one out. She scored on Schattle’s second double of the game.

Midway JV 0
Jenna Calder went three-for-three with an RBI, an RBI triple and an RIBI homer to lead the Lady Eagles past Midway JV Feb. 25 as Salado won 7-0 in five innings.
Salado scored three runs in the first as Malory Schattle, Calder and Madeline Murray and Meagan Hill all hit doubles.
The Lady Eagles had 12 hits in the game, while pitcher Bailey Tindell held Midway to just three singles. Four Midway girls reached base, including one on a walk, but none advanced farther than first base.
Lindy Martin singled to lead off the second and scored on a triple by Calder to give the Lady Eagles a 4-0 lead.
Salado added three in the fourth. Payton Dreitz singled and scored on a double by Schattle. Calder cleared the bases with a homerun to make the score 7-0.
Tindell had just 57 pitches in the appearance, striking out six of the 17 batters she faced.

Gatesville 1
Salado Lady Eagles scored two runs in the third and three in the sixth to beat the Gatesville Lady Hornets 5-1.
With Salado trailing 1-0, Lindy Martin led off the third with a triple. Abbie James walked and stole second. Martin and James scored on a double by Rebecca Dockray.
Dockray led off the sixth with a single and stole second. She scored on a double by Madeline Myrray. Murray scored on a triple by Bailey Tindell who scored on an error.

Caldwell 4
Salado Lady Eagles committed back-to-back errors in the final inning allowing two runs to score and giving Caldwell a 4-3 win.
Caldwell took a 2-0 lead in the first before Salado scored a run in the fourth. Malory Schattle walked to lead off the fourth, scoring on a single by Madeline Murray.
Schattle tripled with one out in the sixth, scoring on a sacrifice by Jenna Calder.
Rebecca Dockray scored on a single by Bailey Tindell after being walked in the seventh inning.
Academy 7
Lady Eagles 6
Salado could not overcome a seven-point deficit despite scoring five runs in the fourth inning alone, losing to Academy 7-6.
Academy scored two runs in the first, three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth.
Salado loaded the bases and pushed across one run with singles by Bailey Tindell, Linday Martin and Abbie James and a walk by Malory Schattle. Jenna Calder knocked in three runs with a triple to deep right field, scoring on a single by Rebecca Dockray, who was left stranded on second base.
Martin singled with one out and advanced on an error by the Academy first baseman that allowed James to turn a put-out into an extra base. Schattle hit a booming single to right field to score Martin before the Academy defense put down the next two batters.
Salado had two opportunities to tie the game, but left runners at the corners in the sixth inning and left Calder on second base after she doubled with two outs in the seventh.
