After being swept by Rogers in the first day of play, Salado Lady Eagles went on to win third place in the Gatesville Volleyball Tournament Aug. 18 and Aug. 20.
The Rogers Lady Eagles swept Salado in two sets 25-11 and 25-21. Salado had just three serving aces with Natalie Fort, Kerrigan Hearne and Katie Robinson all scoring one.
Victoria DeKay had three kills, followed by Robinson and Brettney Fuller, two kills each and Brianna Washington and Mariah Vaillancourt, one kill each.
Fuller had six assists in the match.
Robinson led Salado with five digs, followed by Fuller, Hearne, Fort and Lindy Martin, three each, Mikaela Heiner and Washington, two each and DeKay and Vaillancourt, one each.
The Lady Eagles bounced back from a first-set loss of 21-25 to beat Temple Ladycats 25-17 and 25-21.
Martin led the girls with four aces, followed by Fuller, Robinson, Hearne and Fort, two aces each.
Robinson and DeKay each had 12 kills at the net. Washington and Vaillancourt both had two kills.
Fuller gave 25 assists in the match.
Vaillancourt had four solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Washington had two solos and three assisted block, Robinson had a solo and an assisted block, DeKay had two assistedboocks and Martin, Fuller and Jamie Rich had an assisted block.
Defensively, Hearne had 10 digs, followed by Heiner, six, Martin, Robinson and DeKay, five digs each and Fuller and Fort, two digs each.
In the third game of the day Aug. 18, the Lady Eagles swept McGregor in two 25-12 and 25-15.
Robinson led the attack at the net with 10 kills, followed by DeKay, eight kills.Also scoring at the net were Washington, two, and Rich, Vaillancourt and Fuller, one kill each.
Robinson also had three service aces, followed by Heiner and Fuller, two each and Hearne, one.
Fort led the girls with eight digs. Hearne had five, Robinson, four, DeKay, three and Heiner, two digs in the match.
Vaillancourt blocked three shots. Washington had a solo and an assisted block, DeKay had a solo block and Fuller had an assisted block.
Fuller gave 22 assists in the match.
The Lady Eagles beat Waco High and Belton on Aug. 20 to earn third place in the tournament.
Salado swept Waco High 25-12 and 25-8.
Fuller served six aces up to the Lady Lions while Martin served four and Hearne, Robinson and Fort each had an ace.
DeJat abd Robinson both had seven kills at the net. Vaillancourt and Washington each had three and Fuller had one.
Scoring digs were Robinson, four, Fulle and Hearne, three each and DeKay, Heiner and Martin, one each.
Fuller had 14 assists.
Washington had two solo and two assisted blocks, DeKay had two assisted blocks and Vaillancourt and Robinson had an assisted block.
In the match for third place, Salado beat Belton in three sets, 17-25, 25-23 and 25-23.
DeKay led the girls with 12 kills while Robinson knocked down 11 kills. Also scoring kills were Washington, Vaillancourt, Fuller and Martin.
Fort had three service aces, Martin scored two and Fuller scored one.
Defensively, Robinson led the team with nine difgs, followed by Martin and Fort, seven each, Fuller, six, Heiner and Hearne, five each and DeKay, one.
DeKay had four solo blocks and two assisted block. Meanwhile, DeKay had a solo block and two assisted blocks, Washington had three assisted blocks and Robinson had two assisted blocks while Fuller and Martin each had an assisted block.
Fuller had 22 assists, Hearne had two and Fort had one in the match.
