Salado Lady Eagles handed the 5A Temple Lady Cats a four-set defeat Sept. 3 to win their first home match under coach Tara Hatfield, winning 25-13, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21.

Atwood had 14 kills on 16 attempts to lead the attack at the net. Vaca also had double figures with 11 kills on 16 attempts.

Also registering kills in the match were Hicks, 8, Wright, 7, Hill, 3, Sebek, 2 and Schattle, 1.

Hicks also had 5 aces in the match, including three in a row in the third set.

Laughland had 3 aces and Valeriano, Atwood and Hill all had a kill in the match.

Atwood led the team in bloacked shots with 3 in the match. Sebek blocked 1 shot.

Hill and Hicks led the scoring for Salado with 12 service points each. Laughland had 11 service points, followed by Valeriano, 8, Atwood, 5, and Vaca, 2.
