Salado varsity Lady Eagles won a shoot out with Stephenville High School 5-4 to win the Marble Falls soccer tournament last week.

To get to the finale, Salado girls beat San Antonio Cole 4-0, Marble Falls 2-0 and Fredericksburg in a weather forfeit. Salado and Stephenville were tied 0-0 before the shoot out to determine the tournament championship.

The girls scored four goals against SA Cole: Katey Ewton, outside midfielder scored on an assist by forward Annie Ewton. Jessica Ringstaff, outside midfielder scored on an assist by center midfielder China Saxton. Saxton also scored an unassisted goal as did defensive midfielder Ashlen LaCanne.

Sara Wilkerson scored both goals against Marble Falls. She had an assist by Annie Ewton and by Katey Ewton.

In the shoot out with Stephenville, goal keeper Sam Isbell saved a crucial shot to secure the win for Salado. Saxton, LaCanne, Katey Ewton and Stephani Fleagle all scored penalty kicks in the shoot out.

The Lady Eagles faced Killeen High on Jan. 13 and will play in their own Eagles Classic tournament Jan. 15-17.
