Lt. Col. Russell Hinote
Services for Lt. Col. Russell Hinote, 88, of Salado were at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Friday, March 20, 2015 with full military honors and a Masonic internment service. Broecker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lt. Col. Russell J. Hinote was born on February 9, 1927 in Champaign, Illinois to Russell Charles Hinote and Blanche Lindseth Hinote. He passed away in Temple, TX on March 15, 2015 with his family at his side.
He attended the University of Texas and graduated with a BA degree. He started his military service with the U.S. Navy after WWII and then entered the US Army on March 28, 1952. Russ met his future wife Mary Katherine Connor Erikson while both were stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, and then they later married on March 6, 1970. The couple made homes in San Antonio, Atlanta and finally Salado.
He was a member of Army Masonic Lodge #1105 in San Antonio.
Preceded in death by his parents; his survivors are his wife Mary of Salado; son, Russell Elliot Hinote of Houston; daughter, Elise (Lisa) Frierson of San Antonio and Patricia (Trish) Ford of Austin. Step-sons: Jackie and Johnny Erikson of Baytown, TX; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
