Lucille Leffel
Services for Lucille Leffel, 94, of Harker Heights, were private.
Leffel died August 29, 2011 in a Killeen hospital. She was born September 6, 1916 to Henry Cirgus Minter and Anna Harned of Louisville, Ky.
Lucille attended Louisville Girls High School where she graduated June 5, 1936.
She married Robert Leffel, Jr., June 4, 1938. Upon returning from WWII he, obtained his bachelors degree from Asbury College, masters of divinity and masters of theology from SMU in 1963 whereupon she became a minister’s wife serving in several congregations in East Texas. Robert reenlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and she became a chaplain’s wife. She was a very active member of the Military Officers Wives Club.
After he retired from the military, he became pastor of Wesley Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, TX where Lucille played the piano and taught Sunday school.
After more than 20 years of service, they settled in Salado, Texas where they were members of the United Methodist Church of Salado.
She was active in gardening, belonging to garden clubs wherever they were located and was very skilled at flower arranging.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Delfus: sisters, Grace Carman, Ora Bell Menter and Lou Helen London. She is also preceded by her son, Robert Rudolph Leffel.
She is survived by her brother, Charles and sisters, Judith Johnson and Glades Kraus, Daughter in law, Rutha Leffel, Salado/Keller, son Charles Wesley and six grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Broecker Funeral Home of Salado.
