Lydia Ann Maclin Robertson, 79 passed away Friday, September 21, 2012, of heart failure.
Known to her nieces and nephews as “Robbie Bear” her college nickname, each summer she took them fishing in the Salado creek and stargazing under the live oaks in the front pasture of her family home place. A native of Salado, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sterling C. and Lucile Robertson. She will be remembered for her love of animals and for her artistic talent. Ann attended Ward Belmont in Nashville, TN where, among other activities, she was a member of the college’s Equestrian team. She then graduated from Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity. After college, Ann studied art in New York City and New Orleans and earned her Master’s Degree in English. When she returned to Texas, she sculpted with Dr. Waldine Tauch before leaving to teach Art and English in the San Antonio school system, retiring after 20 years of service. Ann was a loving aunt who shared with her family her passion for animals and her love for Central Texas. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her sister Lucile Ambrose and her brother Sterling Robertson. She is survived by her nephews John Ambrose and Sterling Ambrose of Nashville, TN; and her nieces Cile Cowan of Nashville, TN, Ann Ambrose of Denver, CO, and Sarah Eddy of Gainesville, GA. A private burial will take place at a later date.
