Margaret Ruth Ann Larsen
Services for Margaret Ruth Ann Larsen, 87, of Salado will be from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado.
Ruth Ann died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 4, 2011 at a local hospital.
She was born May 6, 1923 to Monroe Mitchell Reeder and Bessie Mae Bush in Liberal, Kansas.
She went to Temple College, Temple, TX. in 1944. In 1945 she met and married Marvin Henry Larsen who was a career USAF officer attaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. During World War II, she was an active member of the Flying Tiger Association which preceded the USO. She helped found the family service organization within the Air Force.
During her career, she was a model with Barbizon agency, a New York based international modeling agency.
“Gamma”, as she was known to her family, was one of the early organizers of the Salado Village, where she was Chairman of the Art Fair for multiple years, member of the Chamber of Commerce auxiliary, organized Christmas in October and participated in many other organizations in Salado.
She and Col. Larsen were always interested in antiques and art. She had the 2nd antique retail store in Salado which later became their home and is currently on the National Registry.
She was a floral designer as well as an artist. They owned the Christmas Shop for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Marvin Henry Larsen, Jr.(Chipper).
She is survived by her daughter, Sunny Coutts of Salado, 3 grand-daughters, Kirsten Larsen Fralinger, Fredrick, Md., Kelly Sue Moquin, Temple and Kendall Kathleen Smithmen, Jackson, Wy. She has 7 great-grandchildren.
Ruth Ann will be buried on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 next to her husband and son at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery,
