Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast at Cultural Activities Center
Central Texas Marines Organization is proud to host the Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast at the Cultural Activities Center Center in Temple, 7:30 a.m. Nov. 14. This event is celebrating the 240th Birthday of the United States Marine Corps.
The Central Texas Marines is an informal organization with the sole mission of hosting an annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast Celebration in central Texas. It is a time for Marines past and present and Navy personnel who served with Marines to socialize, hear guest speakers, and observe time-honored Marine Corps traditions which every Marine has experienced. The Central Texas Marines is planning for up to 350 guests to enjoy traditional “chow”, associated with field operations including “S.O.S.”, a concoction of gravy and ground beef served on a toast.
The Central Texas breakfast event began in 2011 as an informal home gathering of Salado Marines & Navy Corpsmen. That year a total of twelve men attended.
This year, the event is being held in Strasbuger Hall at the Temple Cultural Activities Center and will be attended by members of the Strasburger family from Temple. A family member, Private First Class Allen H. Strasburger, United States Marine Corps, who was killed during the Battle of Iwo Jima and posthumously awarded the Silver Star (the Nation’s third highest award for bravery in combat), will also be remembered. For more information or register, visit www.centraltexasmarines.org or contact Colonel Dave Williams, USMC (Retired) at centraltexasmarines@gmail.com .
