Mildred Jean Parramore Teal, 85 years old, died on April 24, 2020, in Grandbury, Texas. Jean was born in Winters, Texas on March 31, 1935. She was the fourth child of William Warren Parramore and Mildred Regina Johnson. Jean lived in Winters with her family until she left for college after her high school graduation.
Jean earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas and a Master of Arts degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Jean was a teacher in the Texas public school system for over 30 years, teaching English and later as a Librarian.
Her 1957 marriage to Harold B. Teal lasted for 52 years, until Harold’s death in 2010. They raised three children, Amy, Linda, and David. Jean had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Her sister Mary resides in Georgetown, Texas, as does Jean’s niece, Mary Kay.
After they both retired as Texas public school educators, Jean and Harold lived more than 20 years in Salado, Texas. During their time in Salado, they helped establish the Salado Presbyterian Church, where Jean served as the choir director. Jean was a member of the Salado Community Chorus, and both were members of the Mill Creek Country Club. They volunteered in various ways in the community, including the Salado Art Fair. Jean also served on the board of the Salado Library and enjoyed her hours volunteering there.
A private memorial service was held at the Salado Presbyterian Church, for her family, on Saturday, July 25, 2020. A Sunday service will be held in her honor, at the Salado Presbyterian Church, at a later date in time.
