Salado – Graveside services for Myrtle Pauline Lyda will be on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Salado Cemetery with John Warden officiating.  Visitation is private.

Mrs. Lyda died on Saturday, November 17, 2012 in a Waco nursing home.  She was born on June 22, 1924 in Madill, Oklahoma to James Griffin and Ollie Birdie Higginbotham.  She married George Nimrod Lyda and the couple raised seven children together.

Mrs. Lyda moved to Salado in 1987 and worked for her daughter Dr. Juanita Duel, DVM before retiring in 1992.  Her favorite pastime was sewing, cooking, and reading western novels.

She is survived by her children: George Lyda of Waldron, Arkansas, John Lyda of San Antonio, Jim Lyda of Mesquite, Murry Lyda of Billings, Montana, Dr. Juanita Duel of Salado and Charles Lyda of Georgetown; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband and daughter Karen Bradley of DeRidder, Louisiana.
