Salado Volunteer Fire Department has received its new rescue unit. The $195,000 truck was delivered last week, but is not yet ready for service. It will replace the 1995 International that was lost to fire March 30.
According to SVFD Chief Shane Berrier, insurance paid $100,000 on the value of the 1995 truck, which cost $200,000 when it was purchased new by the fire department. Since the truck was lost, about $12,000 has been donated to the replacement effort.
The fire department is financing the remainder and hopes the community will help in raising the funds for the truck.
If you would like to make a donation to help replace the rescue unit, you can mail payments to Salado Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 503, Salado, TX 76571. You can also donate through gofundme at https://www.gofundme.com/saladofire.
