Pedro R. “Pete” Coronado, 91, of Salado, passed away March 2, 2015 following a long illness.
He was born February 4, 1924 in Benevides, Texas, the eldest son of Pedro and Otila Coronado.
He graduated from Texas A&M with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1947 and was a lifelong proud Aggie.
He began a career in energy with Marathon Oil Company, the Standard Oil, as an engineer. He relocated to Marathon’s headquarters in Findlay, Ohio in 1970.
In 1983, he retired from Marathon Oil Company as a vice president of refining and settled in Salado with his wife Eleanor.
Pete and Ellie were married in 1949 and had three daughters, Theresa, Diana and Christina. His wife passed away on March 6, 1990.
Coronado is survived by his daughters: Theresa Coronado and her children Andres, Jack and Willlam, Diana and husband Mark Panko and their children Isabella and Pete and Christina and her husband Pim Prpich. He is also survived by his youngest sister Macarita Young.
A rosary was held on March 6 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple. Funeral services were held March 7 at St. Luke Catholic Church with burial following at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
