Fort Hood announced the death of a Soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Jessica Yvette Sarandrea, 22, 2009 of Miami, Florida, died March 3 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked her forward operating base with mortar fire.
Sarandrea joined the military in August 2005 as a Unit Supply Specialist and was assigned to the 3rd Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since March 2008.
She deployed to Iraq in December 2008.
Private First Class Sarandrea’s decorations and awards include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Overseas
Service Ribbon.
