Private John Curtis DeSilva
Fort Hood officials have released the name of a soldier after next-of-kin had been notified, who died Friday, June 5,2009 in a motorcycle accident in Ottawa County, Oklahoma.
Private John Curtis DeSilva, 21, of Commerce, Oklahoma, an Infantryman, entered the military in May 2008. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since September 2008.
DeSilva, during the time of the incident, was the driver of a privately owned motorcycle. He was killed as a result of injuries sustained during the accident.
Private DeSilva was currently deployed to Iraq and home on leave.
Pvt. DeSilva’s decorations and awards include the National Defense Service Medal, and Army Service Ribbon.
The accident is under investigation.
