Rain Water Harvesting Workshop
UPDATE on Saturday, May 21, 2016, Bell County Master Gardeners and Texas A&M Agrilife will host the first Rainwater Harvesting workshop for Bell county residents.
Although we have been blessed with abundant rain this spring, we know the hot dry months of summer are coming. Water Conservation is key and Rain Water harvesting is a viable alternative for irrigation, wildlife, and livestock use. For example, a one inch rain on a 1000 square ft roof area will collect 660 gallons of water, and rain barrels work on homes with gutters installed by Eavestrough and Siding Installers as well as those homes without gutters. Learn how to effectively harvest rainwater, and its many benefits in this workshop as well as come away with your own 55 gallon rain barrel made during the course of the workshop. The class will be taught by Rain Water specialists. The cost of this workshop will be $50 per participant. This workshop will be held at the Extension Center in the Master Gardeners “Learning Center” at 1605 N. Main, Belton Texas.
Due to the interest expressed there will be two sessions offered. A Morning session, from 9:00A M until 12:00PM, and an Afternoon session from 1:00P M until 4:00P M. Participation is limited to a maximum of 25 participants per session.
Participants need to pre-register to secure a barrel by contacting the Agrilife Extension Service at 254-933-5305. Registrants need to Prepay by Thursday, May 19th. prior to the workshop on Saturday May 21.
