Sgt. 1st Class Randy Richard
FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died at Carl R. Darnall Medical Center after collapsing while standing in formation March 29 2011 here. The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Sgt. 1st Class Randy Richard, 40, of Mamou, La., joined the military in February 1991 as an automated logistical specialist and was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Brigade Troops Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade. 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Fort Hood, since November 2010.
Richard deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from April 2003 to July 2004 and from August 2008 to October 2008.
Richard’s awards and decorations include the four Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, six Army Good Conduct Medals, two National Defense Service Medals, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, six Overseas Service Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, United Nations Medal, NATO Medal and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
