Rhynold Lee Weehunt Sr.
Services for Rhynold Lee Weehunt Sr., 80, of Holland will be at 2:00PM on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the 1st Baptist Church, Holland, with Michael Fortson and Danny Shaver officiating.
Rhynold died Friday, February 18, 2011 at his home in Holland. He was born October 17, 1930 in Morgan, Texas to Roy Loyd and Bernice Weehunt.
During his childhood, he was particularly close to his grandparents “Mama” and “Papa” Miears who had a peanut farm in Gorman. After graduation, he served 3 years in the US Air Force, 2 of those years in Germany. After honorable discharge in 1952, he worked for Western Electric in Texas.
Rhynold, after dating for all of 1 week, married Bobbie Adell Cooper on April 8, 1955 in Weathorford, Texas. They have been married for over 55 years.
He continued his telephone career in Decatur, TX, in 1958 and subsequently took a position as manager at Comanche County Telephone Co. in 1973. His dream was to one day own his grandparent’s peanut farm, a dream which came true before he retired in 1992.
Rhynold was a Deacon of the Church of Christ, Gorman, a VFD Fire Chief, member of Rotary International, and JC’s in Decatur, TX.
He was an avid crappie fisherman and traveled the US with his wife in their RV trailer, to fulfill her childhood dream of travel and visiting the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bobby Elvin Weehunt. He is survived by his brother Ben Roy Weehunt and his Sister Reta Ann Weehunt Shaver.
He is also survived by his wife Bobbie Adell Cooper Weehunt, son Rhynold Lee Weehunt, Jr. of Brownwood and daughter Connie Adell Weehunt-Hagood of Holland. He has 3 grandsons, Shannon Knox Hagood and his wife Betty Lisa of Holland, Rhynold Lee Weehunt III of Odessa and Michael Madison Weehunt of Houston. He also has one great grandson William Knox Hagood of Holland.
There will be a visitation at the Broecker funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 20, 2011. There will be a further visitation at the 1st Baptist Church one hour prior to the service at 1 pm.
A graveside service at Holland Cemetery with military honors will follow.
