Salado – Services for Richard H. Waters, 76 of Salado will be at 10AM Monday, June 3, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 881 N. Main St, Salado. Fr. Bob Bliss will be officiating. A gathering at Fletchers Book Store, Salado, to celebrate Richars’s life will be Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 6:30 PM.
Richard died May 28, 2013 at his home. He was born in Cuero, Texas, April 17, 1937 to Harold and Mickey Waters.
After graduating from Temple High School in 1955, he attended Temple College. He served in the Texas National Guard for 9 years attaining the rank of Sergant. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Early in his career Richard worked for Lone Star Gas and later for the City of Temple as a plumbing inspector. In 1961 he started his own business and became a general contractor specializing in underground utilities and did water and sewer projects all over the state of Texas. Later in his career he did many projects for Texas Parks and Wildlife building and renovating RV facilities in many of the state parks.
Richard was a avid fisherman and especially enjoyed off shore fishing. He was a general contractor in Port Aransas, Texas for 16 years building both residential and commercial projects. While living in Port Aransas he earned his Coast Guard Commercial Captain’s license and was an offshore fishing guide.
He was member of the St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Salado.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother; and grandson, Justin Waters.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years Barbara Waters of Salado; a brother Ronnie Waters of Temple; a son Robin Waters and wife Carolyn of West; a daughter Rhonda Deiterman and husband Dwain of Elm Mott; 4 grandchildren, Jacob and Julia Waters, and Brittany and Blake Deiterman.
