Royce Lynn Vernon

Royce Lynn Vernon, age 86 and formerly of Salado, died at home on March 19, 2015 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease.

He was born on February 21, 1929 in Lockney, Texas and resided in Pflugerville, Texas at the time of his passing.

Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Essie Mae Vernon;  siblings, Bert Vernon, Jr., Nina White, Bettye Cruse, Don Vernon, and Alvin Vernon.

He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Irma Vernon; children Lynn Rutherford, Sharon Vernon, and Ed Vernon;  grandchildren Chris Kopacz and Carey Brown, five  great-grandchildren and their spouses and five great-great-grandchildren.

He was a deacon in the Baptist church for more than 50 years.

Services are in the care of Broecker Funeral Home, Salado.  A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at First Baptist Church in Round Rock, 306 Round Rock Ave, Round Rock, Texas on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.
