Funeral services for Russell McLaughlin, 61, of Morgan’s Point Resort, will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Salado Cemetery.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening from 5-7 PM at Dossman Funeral Home.

McLaughlin died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home.

McLaughlin was born, March 12, 1952 in Temple, the son of John Richard and Bernice (Lasiter) McLaughlin. He grew up in Salado. Russell was a 1970 graduate of Salado High School and was elected Mr. Salado of his class. He married Janice Lehrmann, September 11, 1976, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Temple. He worked in telecommunications for Black Box at the Central Texas V. A. Hospitals. He was a member of the PBR Fan Club and always enjoyed taking his grandchildren to PBR events. He was a Christian.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jan; a son Brent McLaughlin and wife Lori of Gatesville and daughter Jenny Newkham and husband Matt of Spring; five brothers Richard McLaughlin of Salado, Jessie McLaughlin of Academy, Pee Wee McLaughlin of Holland, T. R. McLaughlin of Belton and Kenny McLaughlin of Burnet; five sisters Barbara Rose of Little River, Kay Fellers of Moody, Debra Hancock of Seale, Alabama, Callie Ratliff of Sidney, Maine and Dena Greenwalt of Buda. More than anything, he loved his two grandchildren, McKenna McLaughlin and Mason Newkham.
