Tickets for the annual Chocolate and Wine Weekend events are on sale now. This is a weekend full of activities not to be missed by those who believe that the four basic food groups consist of white chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate and truffle. This event will take place throughout the Village of Salado with nine great events jam packed into one fun-filled weekend.
This three-day chocolate weekend promises to satisfy all the senses with a gourmet chocolate brunch, wine tastings, good music, demonstrations, and a chocolate trail winding throughout the entire village and a free concert by Army Jazz Band.
The weekend kicks off Sept. 19 with an “Evening of Chocolate and Wine” 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the Salado Wine Seller. Guests will be invited to savor the taste of premier Texan wines paired with decadent chocolates. For $39.95 per person you can enjoy this evening of wine and chocolate though the event is limited to 30 people. Kids will get a hands-on chocolate experience with Titia from Mud Pies Pottery. They will be able to create decadent chocolate creations such as fudge kist apples in caramel, fudge and nuts, ghosts made of Nutter Butter Peanut Butter sandwich cookies dipped in vanilla fudge, pecan pralines from Penuchi fudge and so much more. The session will be 9-10 a.m Sept. 20. The cost of this class is just $29.95 per person however; this class is limited to just 10 people. To order tickets log onto www.saladochocolatefestival.com. Sir Wigglesworth at Mud Pies has not forgotten about the adults, and is offering an event where you will able to participate in some chocolate creations infused with a bit of alcohol from 10:15 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. This super fun class is $39.95 per person and will be limited to just 10 people and as always you must be 21 and older in order to attend. Create your own chocolate marshmallow fondant to top homemade petit-fours during a session with Susan at the Garden Room of the Stagecoach Inn. The class is 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and is limited to 15 people. This is a ticketed event for $24.95 per person.
Enjoy a unique event when you take part in our “Chocolate Trail” 2-6 p.m. with a dozen stops throughout the Village of Salado. Your 12 chocolate trail stops include Salado Wine Seller, The Shoppes on Main in Salado, The Salado Mercantile, Christine’s, Oo-La-La, Angelic Herbs, Prellop Fine Art Gallery, 21 Main, Salado Creek Winery, Mud Pies Pottery, as well as Springhouse and Brookshire Brothers. Transportation will be provided by the village trolley. This is a ticketed event for $39.95 per person and is limited to only 250 people.
The very popular “Death By Chocolate Contest” presented by the Friends of the Salado Public Library returns. It will be held 2-4 p.m. Sept. at the Library. The Library has encouraged participants to enter their favorite chocolate recipes in the competition. Entries are available at the library and the entry deadline is 1 p.m. on Sept. 13. Live jazz music by the Army Jazz band will wind up the events on Sept. 20 with a free concert at The Venue by Inn on the Creek. The concert will be 7-9 p.m. and refreshments will be available for purchase.
The weekend will finish with a Chocolate & Champagne Brunch at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at Alexander’s Distillery. Menu selections may be viewed on the website. This is a ticketed event for $59.95 per person and tickets must be purchased through www.saladochocolatefestival.com.
