Salado Eagles beat the Gonzales Apaches 5-1 on the road Jan. 29 in a non-district varsity soccer match.

Outside midfielder Armando Castillo scored a goal and had an assist in the match.

Eagles scoring goals were Forward Alex Carmona, Attacking Midfielder Brandon Rodriguez, and Attacking Midfielder Manuel Tonches.

Giving assists in the match were Midfielder Scout Puckett, two assists and Forward Costas Loullis, one assist.

“It was a different playing environment than we were used to, but we didn’t let that get in our heads,” Scout Puckett said. “We played our game and got the win.”

The Eagles are 7-3 overall and start district play at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 5 against Florence in a home match.
