Drew Kiser knocked down four threes, three of them in the second half, to lead the Burnet Bulldogs past the Salado Eagles 77-71 in a tightly fought district basketball game Jan. 19.

Salado held on to a 17-15 first quarter lead and went to the lockers leading by a point, 35-34 before Kiser scored 17 of his team-high 23 points in the second half, leading the Bulldogs to the come from behind win over the visiting Eagles.

Salado outshot Burnet at the free throw line, converting 22 of 29 attempts while the Bulldogs were 18 of 29. Both teams shot for 21 points beyond the arch.

Salado relied on workhorse Preston Rosebrock, who scored 32 points in the game. He had five three pointers and shot 11-of-14 free throws as well.

Justin Tatum shot seven-of-eight at the free throw line on his way to a 20-point night for the Eagles.

Peyton Kyburz scored 10 points for Salado, Anthony Young scored five and Trevor Stump added four points.

Scoring for Burnet were Kiser, 23 points,  Luke Pemberton, 12 points, Darius Johnson and Kyle Cavender, 11 points each, C. Graves, 10 points, Jesse Pollard, nine points and Carlos Herrera, one point.

Justin Tatum spent most of his time at the free throw line, as he shot 16-o-18 there to lead the Eagles past the Llano Yellowjackets in a road game Jan. 22.

Salado trailed 16-10 at the end of the first and 27-30 at the half but poured on 22 points in the third while holding Llano to just six points to take the lead 49-36.

The Eagles added 27 points in the fourth while Llano scored 19 points.

Preston Rosebrock shot 50 percent at the free throw line to score seven of his 20 points in the game. He also shot three three-pointers in the game,

Also scoring from the Eagles were Trevor Stump, 14 points, Peyton Kyburz, 11 points, Anthony Young, five points and Jeremy Jarvis, three points.

Tyler Wennes led the Yellowjackets with 16 points, followed Jaden Napolez, 15 points, Andrew Baker 10 points, Louie Nyeland, nine points and Wayne Davis, five points.
