Alan Haire’s tenure at the helm of the Salado Eagle football program began with two-a-day practices that this morning.
Haire returns to Salado after a long period as the head coach and athletic director of the Lago Vista Vikings, a short stint at Mabank and a year as the Athletic Director of Stephenville High School.
Haire was an assistant football coach under head coaches Dan Wasik and Joe Mullins. He also played varsity football in Salado under coach Rance Dulaney.

Larnce Barker, who provides color commentary for the internet broadcast of Salado Eagles football games and who heads the Salado-area Central Texas Youth Football, said this about the first day of practice:
The 1st 2 a day practice for Salado HS under new Head Coach Alan Haire started off with kids running to the field to their position coach. When the whistle sounded, every player clapped with excitement knowing they will do well this year and are confident. Players divide by position to the position Coach and are sounding out at each drill and Coaches encouragement is wonderful. These kids can win and with the Guidance of Coach Haire and his staff, placing players in position that is best for the team. Salado will be ready for their new FB schedule that is in front on them.
Every station the kids are hustling, Coaches are in charge and each student-athlete meet the demand of the drill.
This new enthusiasm is a breath of fresh air to Salado High School Football because most of the these kids having been playing Football for along time and have the experience and know how to play with the “no quit” attitude as we saw from our underclassman last season.
Unity is the key and play as a team and support each other to the end is what is going on with the 2016 Salado Eagles
