On the twelfth anniversary of the September 11 attacks, Salado students, along with local law enforcement and fire fighters, joined with troopers from the 3d Cavalry Regiment to honor the sacrifices of so many brave individuals that day by completing a Freedom Walk.
The Freedom Walk began at 9:30 in the morning at the Salado High School Stadium, as students from town’s grade school, intermediate school, and junior and senior highs observe the posting of the Nation’s colors and then hear from Col. Cameron Cantlon, commander of the Regiment, and Dr. Michael Novotny, Salado’s school superintendent.
Students, first responders, and Cavalry troopers exited the stadium and walked a circuit around the schools’ block, ending back at the stadium.
