Salado FFA teams have been busy crossing the state to compete in statewide invitational contests in San Angelo, San Antonio, Waco and Stephenville in recent days.
MCCA-Waco
The Nursey/Landscape and Farm Business Management teams brought home plaques from the statewide invitational contest at McLennan Community College in Waco, where more than 140 schools competed on April 7.
The Nursery Landscape team took second place. Ty Sebesta won the contest. Kylee Hubbs placed eighth overall. Other team members are Lindy Martin, Paige Aydell and Kayla Hudgens.
The Farm Business Management Team placed fourth. Courtney Evans was fourth place individual and Chase Kunz was eighth place individual. Other team members are Clayton Kunz and Conner Hill.
Other teams competing in MCC were these:
Milk Waultiy Products: John Dawson – high point team member; William Macek; Tate Hill; Ashley Ruiz and Tris Sebesta.
Entomology: Brady Alexander – high point team member; Owen Dabney and Jim Reeder.
Livestock: Kaydee free – high point team member; Nolan Maldonado; Matthew Maldonado; Avery Hyer; Brileigh Cole and Trace Medlin.
Vet Tech: Ansley Flowers – high point on team; Chase Harwell and Kylar Combs.
San Angelo
Salado High School teams competed in the San Angelo Statewide CDE contest April 9 with the following results:
Wool placed sixth overall: Aspen Robert, seventh high individual; Bailee Barrett; Kenzie Pardon; Scout Puckett and Chloe Schwertner.
Meats: Sydney Hill – high point on the team, Owen Dabney, Seth Hill, Mellisa McCullough and Trey Schaub.
James Madison-San Antonio
Salado FFA teams also competed in the James Madison Invitational in San Antonio on April 9.
Wool: third place team; Aspen Robert, fourth high in contest; Scout Puckett, fifth high in contest.
Farm Business management, third place team; Courtney Evans, fourth high individual; Chase Kunz, eighth high in contest.
Nursery Landscape: fourth place team; Ty Sebesta, first high in contest
Also, Vet Tech, Chase Harwell, high point on team; Entomology, Owen Dabney, high point on team; Milk Quality Products, John Dawson, high point on team.
Salado FFA students competed in the Tarleton State University Statewide Invitational on April 2 where the Nursery/Landscape and the Farm Business Management teams earned plaques for placing the top three teams.
Nursery Landscape earned first place and a $1,000 dollar scholarship. Individual placements were these: Ty Sebesta – 8th place; Kylee Hubbs – 16th place; Lindy Martin-13th place, Paige Aydell and Kayla Hudgens
The Farm Business Management team placed third overall with the following individual placements: Courtney Evans – fifth high individual; Chase Kunz – sixth high individual; Conner Hill – 20th individual, Clayton Kunz and Tris Sebesta.
