Sculpture Garden unveils new pieces
The Public Arts League of Salado and Keep Salado Beautiful hosted the first anniversary celebration of the Salado Sculpture Garden starting with a gala preview party 6 p.m. Oct. 26 in the garden at 113 Salado Plaza Drive.
New sculpture from 12 artists will be be featured in the peaceful setting of native plantings and mature trees along meandering paths, rock benches, and a seasonal creek in the acclaimed landscape created and maintained by the Texas Master Naturalists. Many of the artists will be on hand to meet and greet patrons, and the new art is all for sale. The artists will be awarded prizes for the top three sculptures.
Activities for the evening include a showing of the film “An Epic Journey in Bronze” detailing the creation of the largest public art installation in America, 120 cast bronze figures depicting a wagon train and the magnificent wildlife of the Great Plains.
Salado artist Aaron Gist will be demonstrating hot metal casting techniques with his melting furnace and crucibles set up outside in the garden.
Wine, tea, and appetizers will be served, and a live auction of Holiday Wreaths handmade by local artists will be held.

The celebration continues Oct. 27-28 when the work opens to the public. The show will remain in place for one year with new art being added as PALS buys more art for Salado.
