Spc. Ryan Charles King
Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom near the village of Nishagam, in Konar Province, Afghanistan on May 1 2009.
Spc. Ryan Charles King, 22, of Dallas, Georgia, a Common Ground Station Operator, entered the military in November 2005. He was assigned to the Special Troops Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division since July 2007.
The Soldier died from wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using direct fire.
Spc. King deployed to Afghanistan June 2008.
Specialist King’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and NATO Medal.
