Spc. Matthew Scott Patton
Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier who died from an apparent gunshot wound May 13 while on leave in Lexington, N.C.
Specialist Matthew Scott Patton, 23, whose home of record is listed as Bristol, R.I., entered the military in August 2008 as a motor transport operator.
He arrived at Fort Hood in February 2011 and was assigned to 154th Transportation Company, 4th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) since February 2011.
Patton deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from October 2009 to October 2010.
Patton’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal.
Circumstances surrounding this incident are currently under investigation.
