Staff Sgt. Kevin M. Marsh
FORT HOOD, Texas – Fort Hood officials have released the name of a Soldier that was found in his barracks room dead Jan. 1, 2009.
Staff Sgt. Kevin M. Marsh, 41, of Friedens, Pa., was found dead the evening of Jan. 1 by senior non-commissioned officers of his unit that had come to check on his welfare following a concerned call from a family member that had contacted his chain of command.
Marsh was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division Rear-Detachment since June 2008. He deployed twice previously in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving as a gunner and vehicle commander in 3rd Battalion, 67th Armor Regiment in Iraq in 2003-04, 2005-06.
His medals and awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Action Badge.
