It’s time for drastic and unprecedented action concerning I-35 construction in Bell County.
In the past week, Salado first responders were called out about a dozen times to accidents in the congested construction areas of I-35. Meanwhile Temple first responders were called out to accident that closed the highway for hours in the northern part of Bell County.
Salado certainly saw its share of tragedy and celebration in 2015.
James Construction crews are building temporary detour of I-35 mainlanes between Thomas Arnold and FM 2484 to divert traffic off of I-35 onto these temporary lanes.

James Construction crews will begin work this week on connecting Salado Plaza to Williams Drive on the west side of I-35, which will require the closure of the N. Main St./FM 2268 cross-under of the I-35 mainlanes.

James Construction will begin the construction of the Salado Plaza section of the I-35 expansion through Salado in August.
To prepare Saladoans for the changes in traffic flows required for this construction, Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) will host a community meeting 6-8 p.m. July 23 at the Salado High School Cafeteria.
