Salado – Tommy Glenn Hipp, 67 of Salado, died on November 30, 2013 at University of Arkansas Medical Center, Little Rock, AK.
Services will be a visitation at Broecker Funeral Home, Salado, TX, December 3, 2013 from 4:00 to 5:15PM. A rosary will be held at 5:30PM at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Salado. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 AM Wednesday, December 4, 2013 with a visitation starting at 8:00 AM. Internment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery, Olften, TX on Wednesday, from 2:30 to 3:30PM with military honors.
Hipp was born July 27, 1947 in Roscoe, TX to Joseph Franklin Hipp and Josie Elizabeth Tubb. He was raised in Blackwell, TX and graduated from San Angelo State University with a bachelors and masters degree in Biology.
He was a Marine retiring from active service February 11, 1973.
He married Barbara Barbara on May 24, 1975.
He worked with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, serving first as a lake manager at Granger Lake, Granger, TX. park ranger and recreational specialist at Hords Creek Lake, Coleman TX. and park ranger, OC Fisher Reservoir, San Angelo, TX.
He was a leader involved in many community projects, including those sheep and horse projects of his daughters. He was a member of the Coleman Co. Lions Club, PRCA Coleman Rodeo Club member, Coleman Soccer Club President, Founder of the Annual West Texas Boys Ranch Deer Hunt at Hords Creek Lake. When he moved to Salado he became a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and Men’s Group. He had a passion for genealogy and spent many days and weeks on research projects.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy Hipp and sister-in-law Charlotte. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, daughter Traci Seely of Katy, TX and her husband Michael and daughter Tonya Bronikowski of Waller, TX and her husband Dwayne. He is also survived by four grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Emma Lou Wagner and husband Harley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stephen Catholic Church Building Fund, Salado, TX or the West TX Boys Ranch Deer Hunt at Hords Creek Lake, Coleman, TX.
Services are in the care of Broecker Funeral Home, Salado.
