Salado varsity Eagles fell to 1-3 in district and 9-9 overall after a close last minutes loss to the Lampasas Badgers on the road. The Badgers won 4-3, scoring a goal in the final minutes of the game.
“This team fought hard in this game,” Coach Michael Goos said, :and played an extraordinary games against a bigger, more experience Lampasas team.”
“The game went back and forth several times until the Badgers scored a goal late in the second half that we couldn’t answer,” he added.
Defender Kaden Smein scored two goals on penalty kicks and forward Brandon Rodriguez scored a goal for the Eagles.
The boys will play Liberty Hill March 13 at home with games starting at 5:30 p.m.
JV Boys
The JV Eagles soccer team traveled to Lampasas March 6 to beat the Badgers 1-0.
The sole goal of the match came in the 15th minute of play when Eduardo Jimenez kicked a corner kick and Sam Shearer headed the ball to the back corner of the net.
The JV Boys season concludes this week with 2 games. They played Ellison at home on March 10 (after presstime) and end the season against Killeen at 4 p.m. March 13 in Salado.
