Velma Phillips

Velma Phillips age 68, passed away September 22, 2014.

She was born on December 6, 1945 to Bert and Della Askew and raised in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School.

Velma married in 1966 to Wayne Phillips and was married for 48 years.

She enjoyed holidays, spending time with family, and attending a weekly coffee group. She had a passion for bowling and has been on the Lucky Lady bowling team for more than 20 years bowling at Hallmark Bowling Lanes in Killeen, Texas for the Little Vegas League.

Velma was co-owner of Salado Rock Company in which she and husband Wayne established in 1994.

Velma is preceded in death by her parents; Bert and Della Askew, and twin sister Thelma Pate.

She is survived by husband Wayne Phillips, sons; Daniel Phillips and Johnathan Phillips; sister Sharon Anderle, with nieces, nephews and other family members.

A Memorial Service will be held at Heartfield Funeral Home 503 N. Main St. Belton, TX on Thursday October 2 at 1 p.m. A reception for family and friends will follow at Schoepf’s Old Time Pit BBQ, 702 E. Central Ave., Belton.
