Vicky Jo Sartor
Vicky Jo Sartor; of Salado, died at the age of 55 on April 25, 2009 at a Temple hospital. She was born on January 5, 1954.
She dedicated her last 20 years of life to the Salado United Methodist Church serving as Program Director and Minister of Children. She was a devout Christian and spiritual counselor; lending her energy in every endeavor. She served her community and family through her love of animals and children.
Sartor served on the Advisory Board of the Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children and assisted with the first fundraisers for the organization. She also served Salado ISD as an officer of the Salado Parents and Teachers. She was involved in many community events, ranging from parades to history awareness and politics to artistic endeavors of every color.
While she shared her giving heart with this community, her greatest love was for family. Vicky was the wife of H.K. Sartor and the mother of H.R. Sartor.
After graduating from high school in Bartlett, Texas and college; Vicky studied at area universities. She married H.K. Sartor on June 2, 1978. Her son, Howard Robert (HR), was born on Christmas Day, 1979.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Kent Sartor; her son, Howard Robert Sartor; her parents, Robert and Evelyn Powitzky; her sister, Janie David; and her aunt, Dorothy Jean Bartlett.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. May 1 at the Salado United Methodist Church. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made in honor of children and animals that will be managed and distributed by the Salado United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 771, Salado, Texas 76571.
A future dedication to Vicky Jo Sartor will be made at Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children. “ The Laughing Place” will be named in her honor.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Dossman Funeral Home of Belton.
