William E. “Bill” Price

William Eugene (Bill) Price died on Sunday, October 6, 2013. He was born to William Archer and Lorene Barganier Price in Marlin, Texas on February 5, 1936.
After graduation from Marlin High School, Bill received a football scholarship to Texas Tech University where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.
Bill joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served two years active duty in San Diego, CA. He captured the heart of elementary school teacher Anne Carhart of Trempealeau, WI, and they married on June 27, 1958 in San Diego after a 6-week courtship.
Bill and Anne made their home in Houston, TX after Bill’s honorable discharge from the Marine Corps. He received his BBA degree from the University of Houston.
A lifelong career in sales and marketing with General Motors began in 1963 (AC-Delco, Frigidaire, Pontiac and Service Parts International divisions) with the family calling Texas, Michigan, Maryland, Ohio, and Kansas their home. After retirement from General Motors in 1991, the Price’s returned to Texas where Bill was a consultant and general manager with Hayden Trans Tool in San Antonio.
Bill and Anne moved to Salado in 1996 where they have lived for 17 years. Bill was active in the Salado Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow honoree. He was instrumental in developing the Salado Flag Program, and a program designed to recognize outstanding high school students with college scholarships. He was a member of Salado United Methodist Church.
Bill is survived by his wife Anne of 55 years and sons William E. Price Jr of Austin and Randall B. Price of Colorado Springs. The Price’s second son, Frederick C. Price died in 2011.
His stepmother, Mary H. Price of Marlin and his siblings James E. Price of Dallas, Mary Ann Close of Key West, Philip Price of Waco, Steven Price of Marlin, Bryson Price of Dallas, and Howard Price of Houston also survive him. His sister, Virginia Edens died in 2005.
Anne and Bill have eight grandchildren — Kyle, Brennan, Bryan, Tatum, Stephanie, Darcy, Audrey, and Tiffany.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at the Historic Chapel at Salado United Methodist Church 2 p.m October 26.
