William Worth Scales, 92, of Austin, formerly of Salado, died October 9, 2013 in Austin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Oct. 19 at Salado Methodist Church with the Rev. Skip Blanchett and the Rev. Lara Whitley officiating.
Scales was born on July 30, 1921 in Terre Haute, Indiana to Grover and Pearl Puterbaugh Scales.
He married Mildred Peters on March 11, 1944.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII (1943 – 1945) and Korea (1950 – 1951).
He was a construction engineer for Brown & Root, CP & L, and for Texas Eastern.
He lived in Buckner Villa’s in Austin for the last two and a half years.
Scales was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Salado for 65 years and a member of Salado Methodist Church for 25 years.
He was a member of the Good Sam’s Club, the Air Stream Travel Club, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was also an expert Wii bowler and bingo player.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one sister, Ruth Scales; and a son, Larry D. Scales.
He is survived by two sons, William David Scales of Salado and John Alvin Scales of Crawford; a daughter, Mary Michelle Daniels of Austin; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
