If true, as media reported, it is indeed a rare occurrence when art reflects reality in such a perfect fashion! Salado’s infamous ‘reverend-mayor’ is portraying “Scrooge” in a local rendition of ‘A Christmas Carol.’
The Ambrose and Cowan families, sixth generation owners of the Robertson Plantation and descendents of E.S.C. Robertson, are hosting a gala to benefit historic preservation in Salado on 7-10 p.m. Dec. 3.
The Gala affair will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by The Range at the Barton House and live music by Pam Bland and Drs. Matt Rogers and Guy Okeson.

Salado FFA members competed in Leadership Development Events. The CenTex FFA District Leadership contest was held Nov. 13. Area competition was held Nov. 21.

Salado Lady Eagles struggled against their red dirt opponents at the Polk City Tournament in Abilene Nov. 19-21 but came home with the Sportsmanship Trophy before the Thanksgiving break.
The girls will host teams from around the state during the Coach Smith Tournament Dec. 1-3.

My mom paid a painful price for not completing an advance directive about her preferences for end-of-life medical care. She was an intelligent and organized woman who had everything in her and my dad’s life planned out and written down. She even drafted her own obituary. Ironically, she never discussed her end-of-life care goals with my father or her physician son (me), preferring to talk about “more pleasant subjects.”

To the Editor:
I’m weary of the mayor sermonizing and cheerleading in his segment in the Salado Village Voice. What bothers me is the incessant underlying message that the mayor is trying to keep the Salado flock on the correct path — albeit and arguably his path — using questionable methods.
Salado Lady Eagles played McGregor on the road Nov.17.
Salado will kick off its annual Christmas Stroll with a Main Street parade at 5 p.m. Dec. 3. Entries are now being accepted for the parade, which will begin at the corner of Royal and Main St. and proceed north to the Salado Civic Center for hot chocolate and cookies with jolly old St. Nick.
