A Salado man died in a house fire overnight at Irene Lane that burned down a two-story house with multiple additions to it and a camper trailer. Another camper trailer ignited but was not lost in the fire.
Get your traveling shoes on, Salado will be doing a lot of that over the next two years.
The Eagles will compete in 4A-District 11 in football for the 2014-2016 school years.
University Interscholastic League released its realignments this morning and Salado is grouped in 4A, Division 2 with Caldwell, Giddings, La Grange and Smithville, all to the southeast of Salado.

Bud Wood, 75, of Salado and formerly of Houston, passed away on January 29, 2014 at Scott and White hospital in Temple, Texas, after a battle with stomach cancer.
Rachel Alice Chenard McManus of Salado passed away January 26, 2014.
Services will be 11 a.m. Jan. 31 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. Aloysius Nzekwe, Pastor.
Dawnita A. Engelke, age 47, died January 19, 2014 at her home in the presence of her husband and children.

A memorial service for Mary Lee Black, 72, of Salado, will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Elm Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Gore officiating. Mary Lee Black died at her residence in Salado on December 22, 2007.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1935 in Brookings, South Dakota to the late Robert E. Coffey and Katherine Bonesteel.
She was graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor in Belton and the University of Texas in Austin.
Black was a teacher at Central Texas College in Killeen.
She is survived by her daughter Katie Black Tanner of Rockwall, Texas; three sons, Ted Black of Roswell, Georgia, Doug Black of Atlanta, Georgia and Tom Black of Monterey, Mexico and her brother Robert Coffey of Palos Verdes, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donation may be made to the Elm Grove Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Broecker Funeral Home, 949 W. Village Rd. in Salado.
All northbound mainlanes to be closed overnight
BELTON – I-35 will be closed in the northbound direction through Belton on Thursday, January 30, from 7 PM – 7 AM in order to allow crews to shift traffic and move concrete traffic barrier. In addition to the mainlane closure, the Loop 121 and FM 436 crossings will be closed to expedite traffic flow on the access roads.
The I-35 mainlane closure for Salado has been postponed from tonight (Jan. 27-28) to tomorrow night (Jan. 28-29), due to the chance of ice in the forecast.
I-35 will be closed in both directions through Salado beginning at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 and ending 7 a.m. Jan. 29 in order to allow crews to demolish the Thomas Arnold bridge.
