A Memorial Service for Zackery Jay Hoover, 16, of Salado will be at 11:00 AM Friday at the 3C Cowboy Fellowship with Brother Robert Whitefield officiating.

Jacquez “Bill” William Hewlett, 75, of Salado passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Scott & White Memorial in Temple.
The Salado Eagles can’t complain that they didn’t have the opportunity to earn a return trip to Nacogdoches for the 2A Region III basketball tournament this weekend, losing to Marlin 51-50.
Junior Kole Hearne turned in one of his best career performances with 21 points to lead the Salado Eagles past the Hempstead Bobcats in the Area round of the 2A basketball playoffs. The Eagles will face the winner of the Academy-Marlin matchup in the Regiona Quarterfinal round.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today (Feb. 21) announced it is listing the Georgetown and Salado salamanders, two small amphibians found in springs and caves around the Edwards Aquifer in central Texas, as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, due to degradation of their habitat and changes in water flow and quality.
