Richard ‘Wayne” Rutherford went to be with the Lord, our Savior on Christmas night December 25, 2020.Wayne was born on September 2nd, 1955 in Nuremberg, Germany to Captain William Bert Rutherford and his wife Francis LaRue Hunter, both of the US Army.
Services for Roland E. Oaks of Salado will be private. His ashes will be interred in Salado Cemetery. A rosary and Mass will be recited at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at a later date.
Samuel Willis Tucker Lanham, III was born in Waco, Texas on March 6, 1932, the first child of Samuel W. T. Lanham, II and Eugenia Nash Lanham. His great-grandfather, whose name he carried, served as Governor of Texas from 1903-1907. Sam died at home in Salado, Texas on November 29, 2020.

October 16, Geraldine Alonzo — Mama — was born August 19, 1923 in Pontiac, Michigan, to Elda and Arthur Newmarch. She was so tiny, she wasn’t expected to live long. But Grandma put her on a hot water bottle, and somehow she fought and worked hard all her 97 years of living.
She passed away on October 16, 2020.

After a brave battle with several lengthy illnesses, Vesta Henderson Smith, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Salado, Texas, on September 19th, 2020, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born in Weslaco, Texas, Vesta grew up in south Texas and graduated Valedictorian of the Class of 1951 at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo High School. She briefly attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos before eloping and marrying her high school sweetheart, Garry Smith, of Alamo, Texas in 1952.
