The Salado Lady Eagles began their Spring Break by winning the District Championship in Soccer on March 15. The traveled to Burnet to beat the Lady Bulldogs 3-0.

Salado Eagles went two-for-four in the Rogers Baseball Tournament March 4-6 with wins over Gatesville and Lago Vista and losses to Rogers and Whitney. The Eagles beat Lampasas prior to the tournament in a non-district game.

Just as the buzzer sounded, Katie Law hit a desperation shot from three feet beyond the top of the arc, catching nothing but the bottom of the net to knot the score at 40 each and send the Salado Lady Eagles’ area round contest against the La Vega Lady Pirates into overtime Feb. 22.
But the elation was short-lived as the Lady Pirates went to the free throw line six times over the next four minutes and sank nine of their 12 attempts to get past Salado 53-47.
Salado Eagles blew out the Smithville Tigers 66-41 in the bi-district round of the UIL 4A boys basketball playoffs Feb. 20.
They face the Connally Cadets, a team they beat 55-45 Dec. 19, at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at Lorena High School in the Area round (after presstime for this edition).
Salado Lady Eagles took the lead over the Burnet Lady Bulldogs with the 1:38 mark in the first quarter of their rubber match to determine the District 19-4A first place team and never relinquished it, winning 43-33 on Feb. 8 in Liberty Hill.
Lorena Perez hit shots with 1:55 and 1:28 to put the girls up for the first time as the Lady Eagles went on a 10-point run in the final two minutes of the first to lead 15-7. The girls hit all four of their free throws in the quarter.
Salado Eagles varsity basketball team is clearly in the driver’s seat of District 19-4A, having beaten every opponent in the loop. Most of the games haven’t even been close with the Eagles winning four of the five district games by double figures.
The Eagles are 16-4 on the year and 5-0 in district play (as of presstime).
