Saint Dominic HS hands Eagles opening round loss in Leander

St. Dominic’s 5

St. Dominic’s scored three runs in the first and two in the fifth to beat the Salado Eagles in the first round of the Leander ISD Tournament March 3.

With two walks and three singles, St. Dominic’s scored three runs in the first. St. Dominic’s also had three singles in the fifth to score two runs.

Preston Payne scored the first run for Salado after walking with two outs in the third. He stole second and scored on a double by Garrett Lightfoot.

Peyton Kyburz scored a run in the fith inning after singling. He went to second on a groundout by Phillip Ellis and scored on a fielding error.

Ellis scored in the seventh inning, which he led off with a single. He went to second on a walk issued to Payne and scored on the throw on a single by Lightfoot to deep left. Salado left Payne and Lightfoot in scoring position to end the game.
