Salado JV Eagles shut out the Gatesville Hornets 22-0 in a home district game Oct. 7. The win improves the Eagles to 3-3 on th year and 1-0 in district play.

Seth Reavis took Hutton Haire’s hand-off up the middle of the Gatesville Hornet defense and sprinted for a 69-yard touchdown on the Salado Eagles’ first play from scrimmage at 10:29 in the first and the District 9-4A Div 2 game was never in question after that.

Eagles blast Ducks 59-6 for homecoming win
Salado Eagles scored four touchdowns in the second quarter to put their homecoming contest against the Taylor Ducks out of reach, going on to win 59-6.
The Eagles defense gave up only 119 yards total offense while the slot T chewed up 493 yards of turf, 466 on the ground as senior quarterback Hutton Haire handed off to five backs and carried the ball seven times himself.

Eagles skunk Mexia 57-0

On a clear warm night at Salado Field, parents John and Tracy Wilson were enjoying every minute of the Parents Night festivities with their son, senior power runner Aiden Wilson.
Anticipating a good game, John commented he hoped the Eagles could push past the Blackcats after disappointing losses to two-time State Champion Grandview and powerhouse Stephenville. “I am excited for the boys and feel that Coach Haire has got them Ready to go!”

9th, JV Eagles fall to Stephenville

Nathan Johnson scored Salado’s only touchdown on a first quarter 14 yard run in the JV Eagles’ 24-6 loss to the visiting Stephenville JV Yellow Jackets on Sept. 9. Johnson was also named the Outstanding Defensive Player for the week. “We started the game well with getting ahead by scoring first. We just had a couple of mistakes. Looking forward to next week when we play Mexia,” Coach Dusty Youngblood said.

Salado Freshmen lost by a single point 8-7 to their Stephenville opponents on Sept. 9.
Brodie Landon rushed for a 30 yard touchdown in the second quarter. The JV team converted a one-point PAT.
Stephenville was able to score a touchdown in the third quarter and converted a two-point try for the 8-7 lead.
Landon was the Offensive Player of the Game. Outstanding Defensive Player was Benjamin McLane.
Eagles fall to Stephenville 48-21
Stephenville Yellow Jackets scored two touchdowns in the last 30 seconds of the first half to take an unsurmountable 31-14 lead over the visiting Salado Eagles Sept. 10, the second coming on a kickoff that rolled into the endzone and was recovered by Ben Kirbo. The Yellow Jackets went on to win in convincing fashion 48-21.

Eagles trounce Troy 62-0
After a scoreless first quarter, it was all Salado as the Eagles trounced the Troy Trojans 62-0 in the season opener Aug. 27 at University of Mary Hardin Baylor’s Crusader Stadium.
Salado Eagles kick off football season against Troy
Salado Eagles will continue their tradition of kicking off the football season by facing the Troy Trojans at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor Crusader Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
The Eagles beat Troy 46-27 and went on to blow through District 9-4A Div. II competition last year, thanks to a stacked lineup of three senior running backs who led the Eagles to 4,370 yards on the ground and 4,795 total offense.
