Really.” Consider the life of The Reverend John “Travis” Franklin (also known as “Trav” and “Bub”) who was reunited with his beloved daughter Brittney in perfect union with our Creator on Thursday, March 3, 2022. His spirit is carried on in his children, son Michael, and younger daughter Erin, in his wife, Lara, and through the countless people whose lives have been indelibly marked by his infectious sparkle, loving countenance, and enduring faith.

GIrls beat Florence in soccer

Jillian Taylor scored the only goal in regulation for the Salado Lady Eagles, who tied Gatesville March 1 at 1-1. After two 10-minute overtime periods, the teams were still knotted at 1-1. Salado lost the match on penalty kicks.

The girls bounced back from the loss to shut out Florence 8-0 on March 4.

Lexi Rice scored two goals. Also scoring goals for the girls were Maria Pauer, Evelyn Ackerman, Maddy Schulz, Haley Piatak, Kennedy Anthony, and Cassie Vargas.

 

 

Lady Eagles go 4-2 in own softball tourney

The Varsity Lady Eagle softball team was able to pick up four wins while only dropping two games over the weekend in the Salado-East View Tournament. On the weekend the Eagles were able to earn wins against Harker Hts. 6-3, Lampasas 6-0, Bastrop 16-2 and Austin LBJ 14-0. The losses were to Elgin 5-0 and Centex rival Troy 11-4

Salado Lady Eagles start Softball season with shut out of Anderson

Anderson 0 Runs,  6 hits,  2 errors

Salado 7 runs, 13 hits, 0 errors

Pitcher Bri Waters and the Salado Lady Eagle teammates were able to pick up their second win of the week on Feb. 21 in their 2022 home opener. 

On the day Waters teamed up with battery mate Giselle Salazar for 11 strikeouts, one base on balls while scattering six hits (four of the hits were infield hits).

SISD trustees to meet March 4 to hire new Head Football Coach

Westerberg is unanimous pick of interview committee for head football coaching job

After 40 years, it looks like Texas coaching legend Tom Westerberg is heading back to his hometown Salado.

Superintendent Michael Novotny told Salado Village Voice that Salado ISD trustees will meet 4:30 p.m. March 4 to hear his recommendation to hire Westerberg as the Head Football Coach of the Salado Eagles, a team he played for as quarterback 40 years ago.
