Salado Eagles secured second place in District 9-4A Division II and another trip to the playoffs with a 77-14 blowout of the visiting Jarrell Cougars tonight.
The win improves Salado’s record to 6-3 on the year and 3-1 in district play.

Salado Eagles ran into a buzzsaw on the road, falling to the China Spring Cougars 48-7 in a District 9-4A contest to fall into second place. The Eagles will look to bounce back when they host the Jarrell Cougars Oct. 29.
The Lady Eagles had their calendar marked for weeks after letting a 2 set lead slip away in Burnet during their first meeting and tonight’s match had a poetic ending as Salado completed a comeback of their own, down 0 sets to 2.
After the Eagles forced the visiting Waco Connally Cadets to punt at 9:51 in the first, the grinding offense took 18 plays and 9:58 of the clock to score on the first play of the second quarter.
Salado Lady Eagles varsity cross country team won the District 19-4A meet, while the varsity boys team placed second. Both teams will compete in the Region Meet Oct. 25 in Huntsville.
Salado JV Eagles shut out the Gatesville Hornets 22-0 in a home district game Oct. 7. The win improves the Eagles to 3-3 on th year and 1-0 in district play.
Salado Lady Eagles swept both of their District competitors last week and are in second place in District play behind Burnet.

Seth Reavis took Hutton Haire’s hand-off up the middle of the Gatesville Hornet defense and sprinted for a 69-yard touchdown on the Salado Eagles’ first play from scrimmage at 10:29 in the first and the District 9-4A Div 2 game was never in question after that.

Salado Volleyball matched up against Lake Belton Volleyball on Sept. 28 in Salado and got the best of their opponent in four sets (25-15, 25-23, 20-25, 25-23). The Lady Eagles grabbed an early lead and Lake Belton could never get closer than 2-1 before Salado took the win in four.
Salado Varsity Lady Eagles jumped out on the Lady Ducks of Taylor Sept. 24 and never let up as they cruised to a straight sets victory with scores of 25-14, 25-15, 25-23.
