Eagles to face Progreso in 4A, Div. 1 state semi-final
Salado Eagles soccer (22-3-3) will face undefeated Progreso (30-0) in the 4A, Div. 1 state semi-final at 7 p.m. April 4 at Comalander Stadium in San Antonio. The Eagles are Region III champions after defeating Lumberton 2-1 in Navasota March 31.

Salado Lady Eagles (27-3) will face the San Antonio Davenport Lady Wolves in the 4A, Div. 1 State Semi-final at 7 p.m. April 4 at Dripping Springs High School, 940 US 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620. Davenport is the Region IV champion. They were second in District 26-4A, behind Wimberley.

The first bill in Texas regarding private school vouchers/Education Savings Accounts (ESAs) was filed back in 1956. Thus, the Texas Legislature has been debating private school vouchers/ESAs for almost 70 years.

Gov. Abbott and Lt. Gov. Patrick claim to want to raise teacher pay, but the Senate today is expected to debate SB 2, a voucher bill that, if finally enacted, will make it increasingly more difficult for public school classrooms to be adequately funded and public school teachers to be adequately paid.

Saladoans were in the path of totality of a total solar eclipse, broke ground on a new high school and stadium, saw a parade featuring the Clydesdales, found out that Sirenafest is moving to Belton, elected a new mayor and two new aldermen and found out that the Village is broke with a $1.4 million deficit budget.
The community also saved an historic old church and moved it to a new location on the grounds of the Salado administrative building.
These are a few of the highlights of the year 2024.
